A Legacy of Love
We were living our separate existences when our lives collided and it became evident the Lord was doing a new thing. "Therefore, if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, ALL things become new" (2 Corinthians 5:17). Having been down the road of doing "us" our way, and it nearly destroying us, we willingly recommitted our relationship to the Lord for His glory. That meant the desires of ME had to be sacrificed for the sake of WE. Two different upbringings, experiences, dreams, fears, and aspirations were being woven into ONE masterful mosaic designed by the ONE with the master plan. Contrary to popular belief, people don't fall in love; Love is a choice. God is love and because He loves us He gives us the gift of loving others. Perhaps the highest expression is when two people are called to covenant together in agape within the marital context.
Marriage is a ministry like no other, designed to bear fruit in the lives it touches, the lives it impacts, the lives it changes, and the lives it creates. It is a lifetime commitment that only works when both people make the choice to love. As we embark on this thrilling journey of building a life together our ultimate goal is to "...above all, maintain an intense love for each other, since love covers a multitude of sins" (1 Peter 4:8).
TWO imperfect people, with imperfect pasts + ONE perfect God, with a perfect plan = ONE beautiful union.
